The Process

As a guideline, pulling together your ceremony will usually follow a similar process;

Hello meeting

The first part of the process is to get a sense of whether I am the right celebrant for you. I’d encourage you to get in contact so we can have a completely no-obligation chat.

This can be done over the phone, or facetime / skype / whatsapp video call if you’re further afield. Or, let’s meet for a coffee if you’re in the area. The best option of all, if possible, is to meet at your proposed venue.

If I am the right celebrant for you, we can confirm the booking with a deposit payment (£100). The date is then locked and we can get on with the work in earnest.

Ceremony summit
This second meeting will be a longer get together, which will enable me to ask you more in depth questions about your wishes, hopes and intentions for the ceremony. We’ll talk about the format of the ceremony, its place in the overall day, the key people involved, venue, what elements you are thinking about or discuss some which might work well for you. I’ll also leave you with some homework to do, which can be worked on as a couple, or individually, which will give me a richer understanding of you and your wishes for the occasion.
Script drafting and revisions

Working with the information from both of our conversations and an agreed draft order of service, I will then create the ceremony script. This will be available for comments and amendments throughout the process, and unlimited re-drafting until you’re completely happy.

I will also make contact with other key people and contributors involved in the ceremony during this stage (if appropriate), to ensure they have the support they need, a clear idea of their contribution, and a timeline for pulling it all together.

Lead-up and on the day

As your special occasion approaches our ceremony script will be long-complete, but it might be that I still need to contact some of the contributors to give them a little nudge!

Often there will be a rehearsal / run through in the days leading up, to finalise some of the detailed stage directions and ensure the key contributors know what’s what.

On the day I’ll arrive nice and early and make sure everything’s in place before the guests start arriving.

After the event
I will follow up with a copy of your wedding service or, depending on the service, any other certificates and elements you may want to keep from the ceremony.

Thanks so much for your support. The wedding was perfect, you spoke beautifully, and we couldn’t have done it without you. x
